John 18:28-40Jesus Before Pilate

John.18.28-40
28Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early in the morning, and they themselves did not enter the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. 29So Pilate went outside to them and said, “What accusation are you bringing against this man?” 30They answered and said to him, “If this man were not doing evil, we would not have handed him over to you.” 31So Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” 32This happened so that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke to indicate what kind of death he was going to die. 33So Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” 34Jesus answered, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about me?” 35Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him. 39But you have a custom that I release one person to you at the Passover. Therefore, do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?" 40Then they shouted again, saying, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber .
