1 Chronicles 15:1-16:43The Ark Brought to Jerusalem; David's Psalm

1Chr.15.1-16.43
1David had houses built for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the Ark of God and pitched a tent for it. 2Then David said, “No one is to carry the Ark of God except the Levites, for Yahweh has chosen them to carry the Ark of Yahweh and to minister to him forever.” 3And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the Ark of Yahweh to the place he had prepared for it. 4And David gathered the sons of Aaron and the Levites: 5of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers, one hundred and twenty; 6of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers, two hundred and twenty; 7of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers, one hundred and thirty; 8of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers, two hundred; 9of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers, eighty; 10and of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers, one hundred and twelve. 11Then David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab. 12He said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites. Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the Ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. 13Because you were not the ones to do it the first time, Yahweh our God broke out against us, for we did not seek him according to the prescribed rule." 14So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the Ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel. 15And the sons of the Levites carried the Ark of God on their shoulders with the poles on them, just as Moses had commanded according to the word of Yahweh. 16Then David told the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers the singers, with musical instruments—harps, lyres, and cymbals—to sound aloud and raise their voices with joy. 17So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; and from his brothers, Asaph son of Berechiah; and from the sons of Merari, their brothers, Ethan son of Kushaiah. 18And with them were their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben , Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers. 19The singers Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were to sound bronze cymbals. 20Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play harps according to Alamoth . 21Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to play lyres according to the Sheminith , to lead. 22Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was in charge of the carrying, for he understood it. 23Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark. 24Shebaniah, Jehoshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer the priests were to blow the trumpets before the Ark of God; and Obed-edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark. 25So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh from the house of Obed-edom with joy. 26And when God helped the Levites who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams. 27David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the chief over the carrying of the singers; and David also wore a linen ephod. 28So all Israel brought up the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh with shouting, with the sound of the horn, with trumpets, with cymbals, and with harps and lyres sounding aloud. 29And as the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh came into the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul looked out through the window and saw King David dancing and celebrating, and she despised him in her heart.
Chapter 16
1And they brought in the Ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh. 3Then he distributed to every Israelite, man and woman alike, to each one a loaf of bread, a portion of meat , and a raisin cake. 4He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the Ark of Yahweh, to make remembrance, to give thanks, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel. 5Asaph was the head, and second to him was Zechariah; then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with harps and lyres; and Asaph sounded the cymbals. 6And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets continually before the Ark of the Covenant of God. 7On that day David first appointed this thanksgiving to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers: 8Give thanks to Yahweh, call on his name , make known among the peoples his deeds. 9Sing to him; sing praises to him; tell of all his wonders. 10Glory in his holy name; let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice. 11Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually. 12Remember his wonders that he has done, his marvels, and the judgments of his mouth, 13O seed of Israel his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. 14He is Yahweh our God; his judgments are in all the earth. 15Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations, 16the covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac. 17He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 18saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance,” 19when you were few in number, very few, and sojourners in it. 20And they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people. 21He allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, 22“Do not touch my anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm.” 23Sing to Yahweh, all the earth; proclaim his salvation from day to day. 24Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all the peoples. 25For great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. 26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens. 27Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. 28Ascribe to Yahweh, O families of the peoples, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength. 29Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him; worship Yahweh in holy splendor. 30Tremble before him, all the earth; indeed, the world is established; it shall not be moved. 31Let the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad, and let them say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns!” 32Let the sea thunder, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and all that is in it. 33Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. 34Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. 35And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.” 36Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh. 37So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh, to minister before the ark continually, according to each day's requirement. 38And Obed-edom and their brothers, sixty-eight in number; also Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah were gatekeepers. 39And Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests were before the tabernacle of Yahweh at the high place that was at Gibeon, 40to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of Yahweh, which he commanded Israel. 41With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen, who were designated by name to give thanks to Yahweh, for his steadfast love endures forever. 42And with them Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for sounding aloud, and instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate. 43Then all the people went, each one to his home, and David returned to bless his house.
