1 Chronicles 18:1-17David's Victories

1Chr.18.1-17
1After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its dependent towns from the hand of the Philistines. 2He defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute. 3David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the Euphrates River. 4David captured from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but he reserved enough of them for one hundred chariots. 5When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men of the Arameans. 6Then David placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. 7David took the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. 8And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and the articles of bronze. 9When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him (for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou). And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold, silver, and bronze. 11King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and the gold that he had carried off from all the nations: from Edom, from Moab, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, and from Amalek. 12Moreover, Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. 13He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. 14So David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness for all his people. 15Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder; 16Zadok son of Ahitub and Abimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was scribe; 17Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites ; and the sons of David were chief officials at the king's side.
