1 Chronicles 26:1-32The Gatekeepers and Other Officials

1Chr.26.1-32
1These were the divisions of the gatekeepers: from the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, from the sons of Asaph. 2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, and Jathniel the fourth; 3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh. 4Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth; 5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth; for God had blessed him. 6Sons were also born to his son Shemaiah, men who ruled over their fathers' house, for they were mighty men of valor. 7The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; his brothers Elihu and Semachiah were men of valor. 8All these were descendants of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their brothers were capable men, strong for the service: sixty-two from Obed-edom. 9Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, capable men: eighteen. 10Hosah, from the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief, though he was not the firstborn, because his father made him chief; 11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen. 12These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, assigned by watches to the chief men, corresponding to their brothers, to serve in the house of the LORD. 13They cast lots, small and great alike, by their fathers' houses, for each gate. 14The lot for the east gate fell to Meshelemiah. Then they cast lots for Zechariah his son, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the north gate. 15To Obed-edom fell the south gate, and to his sons the house of supplies. 16To Shuppim and Hosah fell the west gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending roadway ; watch corresponded to watch. 17At the east gate there were six Levites; at the north gate, four per day; at the south gate, four per day; and at the storehouses, two by two. 18For Parbar on the west, there were four at the roadway and two at Parbar. 19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of the Korahites and the sons of Merari. 20And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the dedicated things. 21The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonite belonging to Ladan, heads of fathers' houses belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli. 22The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the LORD. 23As for the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: 24Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, was ruler over the treasuries. 25And his relatives through Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son. 26This Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things that King David, the heads of fathers' houses, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the commanders of the army had dedicated. 27From the wars and from the spoil they had dedicated these things to strengthen the house of the LORD. 28And everything that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated—whatever anyone had dedicated—was under the care of Shelomoth and his brothers. 29From the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to the outward work over Israel as officers and judges. 30From the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, 1,700 capable men, had oversight of Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king. 31As for the Hebronites, Jerijah was the chief of the Hebronites according to their generations by fathers' houses. In the fortieth year of David's reign they were searched out, and mighty men of valor were found among them at Jazer in Gilead. 32And his relatives, 2,700 capable men, heads of fathers' houses, King David appointed over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
