Genesis 7:1-24 — The Flood
Gen.7.1-24
1Then the LORD said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation. 2From every clean animal you shall take for yourself seven pairs, a male and its mate; and from the animals that are not clean, two, a male and its mate; 3also from the birds of the sky, seven pairs, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4For in seven days I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe out from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made." 5And Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him. 6Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth. 7And Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8From the clean animals, and from the animals that are not clean, and from the birds, and everything that creeps on the ground, 9they went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah. 10And after the seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth. 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that very day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. 13On that very day Noah entered the ark, along with Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them— 14they, and every wild animal according to its kind, and all the livestock according to their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, every winged creature. 15They went into the ark to Noah by twos of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 16Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in just as God had commanded him; and the LORD shut him in. 17The flood was on the earth for forty days, and the waters multiplied and lifted up the ark, so that it rose high above the earth. 18The waters prevailed and multiplied greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters. 19The waters prevailed so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 20The waters prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered. 21And all flesh that moved on the earth perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind. 22Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life died. 23He wiped out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, from man to livestock, to creeping things, and to the birds of the sky; they were wiped out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark. 24And the waters prevailed upon the earth for one hundred and fifty days.
