Genesis 30:25-43Jacob's Flocks Increase

Gen.30.25-43
25When Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, 'Send me away, that I may go to my place and to my land.' 26Give me my wives and my children, for whom I served you, that I may go; for you know the service with which I served you. 27Laban said to him, 'If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay, for I have learned that the LORD has blessed me because of you.' 28And he said, 'Specify your wages to me, and I will give them.' 29Jacob said to him, 'You know how I have served you, and how your livestock has fared with me. 30For you had little before I came, and it has increased to abundance, and the LORD has blessed you wherever I went. But now, when shall I too provide for my own house?' 31He said, 'What shall I give you?' Jacob said, 'You shall not give me anything. If you will do this one thing for me, I will again pasture your flock and keep it: 32Let me pass through all your flock today, removing from there every speckled and spotted sheep, every dark-colored one among the sheep, and every spotted and speckled goat. That will be my wages. 33So my honesty will answer for me later, when you come to look into my wages before you: every one among the goats that is not speckled and spotted, and among the sheep not dark-colored, if found with me, will be considered stolen.' 34Laban said, 'Yes indeed, let it be according to your word.' 35But that day he removed the male goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and every dark-colored one among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons. 36Then he put a journey of three days between himself and Jacob, while Jacob pastured the rest of Laban's flock. 37Jacob took fresh rods of poplar, almond, and plane tree, and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white that was on the rods. 38He set the rods that he had peeled in the troughs, in the watering channels, where the flocks came to drink, opposite the flocks; and they came into heat when they came to drink. 39So the flocks mated by the rods, and the flocks bore streaked, speckled, and spotted young. 40Jacob separated the sheep and set the faces of the flock toward the streaked and every dark-colored animal in Laban's flock. He set his own droves apart and did not put them with Laban's flock. 41Whenever the stronger animals of the flock came into heat, Jacob would place the rods in the troughs before the eyes of the flock, so that they might mate by the rods. 42But when the animals were feeble, he did not put them there. So the feeble belonged to Laban, and the strong to Jacob. 43Thus the man prospered very greatly, and he had large flocks, female servants and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
