Genesis 6:1-8 — Wickedness in the World
Gen.6.1-8
1When humankind began to multiply greatly on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves from all whom they chose. 3Yahweh said, “My Spirit shall not abide in humankind forever , because they are flesh; their days shall be a hundred and twenty years.” 4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went in to the daughters of humankind and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5Yahweh saw that the wickedness of humankind was great on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all day long. 6And Yahweh regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was grieved in his heart. 7So Yahweh said, “I will wipe out humankind, whom I have created, from the surface of the ground, from humankind to animals, to creeping things, and to birds of the heavens, for I regret that I have made them.” 8But Noah found favor in Yahweh's eyes.
