Romans 11:1-10The Remnant of Israel

Rom.11.1-10
1I ask then, did God reject his people? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people whom he foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? 3“Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have torn down your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” 4But what does the divine reply say to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too, then, at the present time there has come to be a remnant according to the election of grace. 6And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. 7What then? What Israel is seeking, this it did not obtain, but the elect obtained it; and the rest were hardened, 8just as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes not to see and ears not to hear, until this very day.” 9And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; 10let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and bend their backs continually."
