Romans 5:12-21 — Adam and Christ
Rom.5.12-21
12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned— 13For until the law, sin was in the world, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a pattern of the one to come. 15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16And the gift is not like what came through the one who sinned. For the judgment from one led to condemnation, but the gift from many trespasses led to justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. 18So then, just as through one trespass condemnation came to all people, so also through one righteous act justification of life came to all people. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous. 20Now the law came in alongside so that the trespass might increase; but where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
