Romans 5:12-21 — Adam and Christ

Rom.5.12-21

¹²Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned— ¹³For until the law, sin was in the world, but sin is not counted where there is no law. ¹⁴Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a pattern of the one to come. ¹⁵But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. ¹⁶And the gift is not like what came through the one who sinned. For the judgment from one led to condemnation, but the gift from many trespasses led to justification. ¹⁷For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. ¹⁸So then, just as through one trespass condemnation came to all people, so also through one righteous act justification of life came to all people. ¹⁹For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous. ²⁰Now the law came in alongside so that the trespass might increase; but where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more, ²¹so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
