Jeremiah 45:1-5 — A Message to Baruch
Jer.45.1-5
1This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a scroll at Jeremiah's dictation, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 2Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning you, Baruch: 3You said, 'Woe to me now, for Yahweh has added grief to my pain. I am weary with my groaning, and I have found no rest.' 4Thus you shall say to him: Thus says Yahweh, 'Look, what I built I am tearing down, and what I planted I am uprooting—indeed, the whole land.' 5And are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them, for look, I am bringing calamity on all flesh, declares Yahweh, but I will give you your life as plunder wherever you go.'
