2 Corinthians 1:1-11 — Greeting and Thanksgiving
2Cor.1.1-11
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth, together with all the saints in all Achaia: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those in every affliction through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort , which is at work in the patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm , knowing that as you are sharers in the sufferings, so also you are sharers in the comfort. 8For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, concerning our affliction that happened in Asia , that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, we ourselves had received the sentence of death within ourselves, so that we would not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will still deliver us, 11as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gracious gift granted to us.
