2 Corinthians 12:11-21 — Paul's Concern for the Corinthians

2Cor.12.11-21

¹¹I have become foolish ; you compelled me to it. For I ought to be commended by you, since I was in no way inferior to the super-apostles, even though I am nothing. ¹²The signs of an apostle were indeed produced among you in all perseverance , by signs and wonders and miracles. ¹³For in what were you made inferior to the rest of the churches, except that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong! ¹⁴Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden . For I do not seek your possessions, but you. For children ought not to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. ¹⁵And I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I to be loved less? ¹⁶Be that as it may, I myself did not burden you. But, 'being crafty, I caught you by trickery!' ¹⁷I did not exploit you through any of those I have sent to you, did I? ¹⁸I urged Titus to go and sent the brother with him. Titus did not exploit you, did he? Did we not walk in the same Spirit? Did we not walk in the same footsteps? ¹⁹Have you been thinking all this time that we are defending ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ; and all these things, beloved, are for your building up. ²⁰For I fear lest somehow, when I come, I may not find you as I wish, and I may be found by you as you do not wish; lest somehow there be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, slanders, gossip, arrogance, and disorders. ²¹I fear that when I come again, my God may humble me before you, and I may mourn for many of those who have sinned before and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and debauchery that they practiced.
