Revelation 6:1-17 — The Seals
Rev.6.1-17
1And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2And I saw , and behold, a white horse, and the one sitting on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering and to conquer. 3And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!” 4And another horse came out, fiery red, and it was granted to the one sitting on it to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another; and a great sword was given to him. 5And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and the one sitting on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6And I heard what sounded like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius , and three choenixes of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” 7And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!” 8And I saw , and behold, a pale green horse, and the one sitting on it, his name was Death, and Hades was following with him . And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword and by famine and by plague and by the wild beasts of the earth. 9And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the testimony they held . 10And they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Master, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11And a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers, who were about to be killed just as they had been, should be complete. 12And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood, 13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14And the sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved from their places. 15And the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
