Revelation 4:1-11 — The Throne in Heaven

Rev.4.1-11

¹After these things I looked, and behold, a door was standing open in heaven. And the first voice that I had heard, like a trumpet speaking with me, said, 'Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after these things.' ²Immediately I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, and one was seated on the throne. ³And the one sitting was like jasper and carnelian in appearance, and a rainbow around the throne was like an emerald in appearance. ⁴And around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones were seated twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. ⁵And from the throne came lightnings and sounds and thunders; and before the throne seven lamps of fire were burning, which are the seven Spirits of God. ⁶And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, like crystal . And in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind. ⁷And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had the face like a man’s, and the fourth living creature was like an eagle flying. ⁸And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and they have no rest day and night, saying, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.' ⁹And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰the twenty-four elders fall down before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying: ¹¹'Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.'
