1 Corinthians 12:12-31One Body with Many Members

1Cor.12.12-31
12For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13For indeed, by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 14For indeed, the body is not one part, but many. 15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18But as it is, God has placed the parts, each one of them, in the body just as he willed. 19And if they were all one part, where would the body be? 20But as it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22But much rather, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24whereas our presentable parts have no need . But God has composed the body together, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25so that there may be no division in the body, but rather that the parts may have the same care for one another. 26And whether one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; or whether a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it. 27Now you are the body of Christ, and individually parts of it. 28And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. 29Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all work miracles, do they? 30Not all have gifts of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they? 31But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And furthermore, I show you a surpassingly excellent way.
