1 Corinthians 1:10-17 — A Church Divided over Leaders
1Cor.1.10-17
10Now I appeal to you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be knit together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11For it has been made clear to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe's household, that there are quarrels among you. 12Now I mean this, that each of you says, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas ,” or “I belong to Christ.” 13Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul? 14I give thanks that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15so that no one may say that you were baptized into my name. 16(Now I did also baptize the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else.) 17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be emptied of its power.
