Zechariah 9:1-17Judgment on Israel's Enemies; Zion's King

Zech.9.1-17
1An oracle of the word of Yahweh against the land of Hadrach , and Damascus is its resting place; for the eye of mankind and of all the tribes of Israel is toward Yahweh, 2and also against Hamath, which borders it, and Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise. 3Tyre has built a fortress for herself, and heaped up silver like dust, and fine gold like the mud of the streets. 4Behold, the Lord will dispossess her, and strike her power into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire. 5Ashkelon will see it and fear; Gaza also, and will writhe greatly; and Ekron, for her hope will be put to shame. A king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited. 6A mixed race will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. 7I will remove his blood from his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he too will be a remnant for our God. He will be like a clan in Judah, and Ekron like a Jebusite. 8Then I will encamp at my house as a guard, against anyone marching back and forth, and no oppressor will pass over them anymore; for now I have seen with my own eyes. 9Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you; he is righteous and delivered, humble and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. 10I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow will be cut off. He will speak peace to the nations; and his dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth. 11As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. 12Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope; even today I declare that I will restore double to you. 13For I have bent Judah as my bow, I have filled the bow with Ephraim; and I will rouse your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and I will make you like the sword of a mighty warrior. 14Then Yahweh will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; and the Lord Yahweh will blow the ram's horn, and will march in the whirlwinds of the South. 15Yahweh of Armies will defend them; and they will devour and trample down the slingstones; and they will drink and roar as with wine; and they will be filled like sprinkling bowls, like the corners of the altar. 16Yahweh their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people; for they are like the jewels of a crown, sparkling over his land. 17For how great is his goodness, and how great is his splendor! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine will make the young women thrive.
