Zechariah 2:1-13 — A Man with a Measuring Line

Zech.2.1-13

¹I looked up and saw, and behold, four horns. ²I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” ³Then Yahweh showed me four craftsmen. ⁴I said, “What are these coming to do?” And he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could lift up his head, and these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations that lifted up a horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.” ⁵I looked up and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. ⁶I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.” ⁷And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him. ⁸He said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited like open country because of the multitude of people and livestock within her.'” ⁹“And I myself,” declares Yahweh, “will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory within her.” ¹⁰“Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north,” declares Yahweh, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of the heavens,” declares Yahweh. ¹¹“Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon .” ¹²For thus says Yahweh of Armies: “After glory he sent me to the nations that plundered you, for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.” ¹³For behold, I am waving my hand over them, and they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me.
