1 Timothy 1:3-11Timothy Charged to Oppose False Teachers

1Tim.1.3-11
3As I urged you to remain in Ephesus when I was going to Macedonia , so I do now, so that you may command certain people not to teach a different doctrine, 4nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship of God that is by faith. 5But the goal of this command is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith, 6from which some have deviated and turned aside to empty talk, 7desiring to be teachers of the law , not understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they so confidently assert. 8Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9knowing this, that the law is not laid down for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10for the sexually immoral, for men who practice homosexuality, for slave traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, 11in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God , with which I was entrusted.
