Proverbs 24:23-34 — Further Sayings of the Wise

Prov.24.23-34

²³These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good. ²⁴Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” peoples will curse them, nations will denounce them. ²⁵But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come upon them. ²⁶Whoever gives an honest answer kisses the lips. ²⁷Prepare your work outside, and get it ready for yourself in the field; afterward, build your house. ²⁸Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips. ²⁹Do not say, “I will do to them just as they have done to me; I will repay the person according to their deed.” ³⁰I passed by the field of a lazy person, and by the vineyard of someone lacking sense. ³¹And behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; nettles had covered its surface, and its stone wall was broken down. ³²I observed and set my heart on it; I looked and received instruction: ³³A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down, ³⁴and your poverty will come like one who approaches , and your need like an armed man .
