Micah 1:1-16Judgment Against Samaria and Jerusalem

Mic.1.1-16
1The word of the LORD that came to Micah from Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. 2Hear, all you peoples; listen, O earth and all that fills it. Let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. 3For behold, the LORD is coming out from his place; he will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. 4The mountains will melt beneath him, and the valleys will split open, like wax before the fire, like water poured down a slope. 5All this is because of the rebellion of Jacob, and because of the sins of the house of Israel. What is the rebellion of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what are the high places of Judah? Are they not Jerusalem? 6Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open field, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour her stones into the valley and lay bare her foundations. 7All her carved images will be smashed, all her harlot's wages will be burned with fire, and all her idols I will make desolate; for from the wages of a prostitute she gathered them, and to the wages of a prostitute they will return. 8Because of this I will lament and wail; I will go barefoot and naked; I will howl like jackals and mourn like ostriches. 9For her wound is incurable; it has come as far as Judah; it has reached the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem. 10Do not tell it in Gath; do not weep at all. In Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust. 11Pass on in nakedness and shame, O inhabitant of Shaphir. The inhabitant of Zaanan has not come out. The lament of Beth-ezel takes away from you a place to stand. 12For the inhabitant of Maroth writhes for good, because disaster has come down from the LORD to the gate of Jerusalem. 13Harness the chariot to the swift team, O inhabitant of Lachish. She was the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for in you were found the rebellions of Israel. 14Therefore you will give parting gifts to Moresheth-gath. The houses of Achzib will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel. 15Yet I will bring the conqueror against you, O inhabitant of Mareshah. The glory of Israel will come to Adullam. 16Make yourself bald and cut off your hair for your beloved children; enlarge your baldness like the eagle, for they have gone from you into exile.
