Micah 4:1-13 — The Mountain of the Lord

Mic.4.1-13

¹And it will happen in the last days, the mountain of the house of Yahweh will be established at the head of the mountains , and it will be lifted up above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. ²And many nations will go and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, and to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways, and we may walk in his paths.” For the law will go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem. ³And he will judge between many peoples, and will decide for strong nations far away; and they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and they will no longer learn war. ⁴And each man will sit under his vine and under his fig tree, with no one to make them afraid, for the mouth of Yahweh of Armies has spoken. ⁵For all the peoples walk, each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever. ⁶“In that day,” declares Yahweh, "I will gather the lame, and I will assemble the driven away, and those whom I have afflicted. ⁷And I will make the lame into a remnant, and the driven away into a strong nation. And Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from now on and forever." ⁸And you, O tower of the flock, hill of the daughter of Zion, to you it will come; the former dominion will come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem. ⁹Now why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished, that agony has taken hold of you like a woman in labor? ¹⁰Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you will go out from the city and dwell in the field, and you will go to Babylon. There you will be rescued; there Yahweh will redeem you from the hand of your enemies. ¹¹And now many nations are assembled against you, who say, “Let her be defiled, and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.” ¹²But they do not know the thoughts of Yahweh, and they do not understand his plan, for he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor. ¹³Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion , for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hooves bronze, and you will crush many peoples; and I will devote their unjust gain to Yahweh, and their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
