Hosea 9:1-17Punishment for Israel

Hos.9.1-17
1Do not rejoice, Israel, with rejoicing like the peoples, for you have committed harlotry, departing from your God; you have loved a harlot's wages on every threshing floor of grain. 2The threshing floor and the winepress will not feed them, and the new wine will fail her. 3They will not dwell in the land of the LORD, but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria. 4They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not be pleasing to Him. They will be like the bread of mourners to them; all who eat of it will be defiled. For their bread will be for their own appetite; it will not enter the house of the LORD. 5What will you do on the day of the appointed festival, and on the day of the feast of the LORD? 6For behold, they have gone away from destruction; Egypt will gather them, Memphis will bury them. As for their precious things of silver, nettles will possess them; thorns will be in their tents. 7The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have come. Let Israel know it! The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is insane, because of the abundance of your iniquity and great hostility. 8The watchman of Ephraim is with my God; but the prophet is a fowler's snare on all his ways, and hostility is in the house of his God. 9They have gone deep in corrupting themselves, as in the days of Gibeah . He will remember their iniquity; He will punish their sins. 10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers like the first ripe fruit on a fig tree in its first season. But they came to Baal-Peor and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became as detestable as that which they loved. 11As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird; there will be no birth, no pregnancy, and no conception. 12Even if they raise their children, I will bereave them until not a man is left. For indeed, woe to them when I turn away from them! 13Ephraim, as I have seen, is like Tyre, planted in a pleasant meadow; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the slayer. 14Give them, O LORD—what will You give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. 15All their evil is in Gilgal, for there I hated them. Because of the evil of their deeds I will drive them out of My house. I will love them no more; all their princes are rebels. 16Ephraim is struck down; their root is dried up, they will bear no fruit. Even if they give birth, I will put to death the precious ones of their womb. 17My God will reject them, because they have not listened to Him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
