Hebrews 9:1-10 — Worship in the Earthly Tabernacle

Heb.9.1-10

¹Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and the earthly sanctuary. ²For the first tabernacle was prepared, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the bread of the Presence; this is called the Holy Place. ³Behind the second curtain was the tabernacle called the Holy of Holies , ⁴having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, inside of which was a golden jar holding the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; ⁵and above it were the Cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail. ⁶Now when these things have been thus prepared, the priests continually go into the first tabernacle, performing their services of worship, ⁷but into the second only the high priest enters, once a year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of ignorance of the people. ⁸By this the Holy Spirit is indicating that the way into the Holy Place has not yet been made manifest while the first tabernacle is still standing, ⁹which is a symbol for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices are offered that are unable to perfect the conscience of the worshiper, ¹⁰dealing only with foods and drinks and various washings—fleshly regulations imposed until the time of reformation.
