Hebrews 5:11-6:12 — Warning Against Falling Away
Heb.5.11-6.12
11About this we have much to say, and the message is hard to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing. 12For although you ought to be teachers by this time, you again need someone to teach you the basic principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk, not solid food . 13For everyone who partakes of milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness, because he is an infant. 14But solid food is for the mature, for those who through practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
Chapter 6
1Therefore, leaving the elementary message about Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith in God, 2of instruction about baptisms and the laying on of hands , of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this we will do, if indeed God permits. 4For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, to renew them again to repentance, since they are crucifying the Son of God again for themselves and holding Him up to public shame. 7For land that drinks the rain often coming upon it, and produces vegetation useful to those for whom it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. 8But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to a curse, and its end is to be burned. 9But we are convinced of better things concerning you, beloved, and things that accompany salvation, even if we speak like this. 10For God is not unjust to forget your work and the love that you have shown toward His name, having served the saints and continuing to serve them. 11But we desire each of you to show the same diligence toward the full assurance of hope until the end, 12so that you may not become sluggish , but become imitators of those who through faith and patience are inheriting the promises.
