1 Peter 5:1-11 — To the Elders and Young Men
1Pet.5.1-11
1Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and also as a sharer in the glory that is about to be revealed: 2shepherd the flock of God among you, caring for it not under compulsion but willingly according to God’s will , not for shameful gain but eagerly, 3not as domineering over those entrusted to you, but becoming examples to the flock. 4And when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another , because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 6Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time, 7casting all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. 8Be sober; be watchful. Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10And the God of all grace, who called you into his eternal glory in Christ , after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.
