Nehemiah 12:27-47Dedication of the Wall

Neh.12.27-47
27At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought out the Levites from all their places to bring them to Jerusalem, to carry out the dedication with joy and with thanksgiving and with song, with cymbals, harps, and lyres. 28And the sons of the singers gathered, both from the district around Jerusalem and from the settlements of the Netophathites, 29and from Beth-gilgal and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built settlements for themselves around Jerusalem. 30And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and then they purified the people, the gates, and the wall. 31Then I brought the officials of Judah up onto the wall, and I appointed two large thanksgiving companies to go in procession. One went to the right on the wall toward the Dung Gate. 32And after them went Hoshaiah, with half of the officials of Judah, 33and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, and Jeremiah, 35and some of the priests' sons with trumpets: Zechariah son of Jonathan, son of Shemaiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph, 36and his brothers, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe went before them. 37At the Fountain Gate , straight before them, they went up by the steps of the City of David, by the ascent to the wall, above the house of David and as far as the Water Gate on the east. 38The second thanksgiving company went in the opposite direction, and I followed it with half of the people on the wall, above the Tower of the Ovens and as far as the Broad Wall, 39and above the Gate of Ephraim, by the Old Gate, by the Fish Gate, by the Tower of Hananel, by the Tower of the Hundred, and as far as the Sheep Gate; and they came to a stop at the Gate of the Guard. 40So the two thanksgiving companies stood in the house of God, and I did also, with half of the officials who were with me, 41and the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets, 42and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loudly, with Jezrahiah as overseer. 43And on that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy. The women and the children also rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard from far away. 44And on that day men were appointed over the rooms for the storerooms, for the contributions, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions required by the law for the priests and for the Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and over the Levites who were ministering. 45And they kept the charge of their God and the charge of purification, as did the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the command of David and Solomon his son. 46For in the days of David and Asaph, long ago, there were chiefs of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. 47And all Israel, in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the allotted shares of the singers and the gatekeepers, day by day as each day required. And they set apart what was for the Levites, and the Levites set apart what was for the sons of Aaron.
