Malachi 2:10-16 — Breaking Faith
Mal.2.10-16
10Do we not all have one father? Did not one God create us? Why do we break faith with one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers? 11Judah has broken faith, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD, which he loves, and has married a woman devoted to a foreign god . 12May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob the man who does this—anyone at all—even one who brings an offering to the LORD of Hosts. 13And this is a second thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears , with weeping and groaning, because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. 14Yet you say, “Why?” Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife you married in your youth, against whom you have broken faith, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15Did he not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore, guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife you married in your youth. 16“For I hate divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and the one who covers his garment with violence ,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Therefore, guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not break faith.”
