2 Timothy 2:14-26A Worker Approved by God

2Tim.2.14-26
14Keep reminding them of these things, solemnly charging them before God not to quarrel about words, which is useful for nothing, to the ruin of the hearers. 15Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed worker, accurately handling the word of truth. 16But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, 17and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18who have deviated concerning the truth, saying that a resurrection has already happened, and they are overthrowing the faith of some. 19Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.” 20Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, and some are for honor, and some for dishonor. 21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 22But flee youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23But refuse foolish and ignorant controversies, knowing that they breed quarrels. 24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward everyone, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25with gentleness correcting the opponents, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that, having been taken captive by him to do his will, they may come to their senses and escape from the devil's snare.
