Titus 1:5-9 — Appointing Elders in Crete
Titus.1.5-9
5For this reason I left you in Crete, so that you might set in order the unfinished matters and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you; 6if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having believing children who are not under a charge of wild living or insubordinate. 7For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward , not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain, 8but hospitable, a lover of good, sensible, upright, holy, and disciplined, 9holding firmly to the trustworthy word according to the teaching, so that he may be able both to encourage with sound teaching and to refute those who contradict it.
