2 Samuel 23:1-7 — David's Last Words
2Sam.23.1-7
1Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel's songs: 2The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me, and his word was on my tongue. 3The God of Israel spoke; the Rock of Israel said to me: 'One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God, 4is like the light of morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like brightness after rain that makes young grass spring from the earth.' 5Is not my house so with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire, though he does not make it grow . 6But the worthless are all like thorns thrown away, for they cannot be taken in hand. 7Whoever touches them must equip himself with iron and the shaft of a spear , and they are utterly burned with fire where they are.
