Jude 1:5-16 — The Sin and Doom of Ungodly People
Jude.1.5-16
5Now I want to remind you, although you know all things once for all, that the Lord , having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6And the angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness for the judgment of the great day. 7Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, which in a similar manner to these people indulged in sexual immorality and went after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. 8Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, defile the flesh, reject authority, and slander glorious ones. 9But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil, arguing about the body of Moses , did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10But these people slander whatever things they do not know; and whatever things they understand naturally, like irrational animals, in these things they are destroyed. 11Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and for profit they have poured themselves into the error of Balaam, and they have perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12These people are the hidden reefs in your love feasts, feasting together with you without fear, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried along by winds; fruitless autumn trees, twice dead, uprooted; 13wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been reserved forever. 14And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied about these people, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with his holy myriads, 15to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly concerning all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and concerning all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." 16These people are grumblers, complainers , walking according to their own desires; and their mouth speaks boastful words, showing partiality for the sake of advantage.
