2 Kings 24:8-20Jehoiachin and Zedekiah

2Kgs.24.8-20
8Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for three months. His mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father had done. 10At that time, the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon went up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege. 11Then Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city while his servants were besieging it. 12Jehoiachin king of Judah surrendered to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his commanders, and his officials. The king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign . 13He carried out from there all the treasures of the house of Yahweh and the treasures of the king's house, and he cut into pieces all the gold vessels that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Yahweh, just as Yahweh had spoken. 14He deported all Jerusalem: all the commanders and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, along with every craftsman and metalworker. No one remained except the poorest people of the land. 15He deported Jehoiachin to Babylon. He also led away into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon the king's mother, the king's wives, his officials, and the leading men of the land. 16The king of Babylon also brought into exile to Babylon all seven thousand men of valor, and one thousand craftsmen and metalworkers—all of them strong and fit for war. 17Then the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah. 18Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for eleven years. His mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 20For it was because of the anger of Yahweh that this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, until He cast them out from His presence . And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
